What: Burda Style magazine hooded cape
Size cut: smallest
Changes made: tried to make it longer but failed
Materials used: black canvas, red flannel for lining, cotton draw string, snaps and eyelets, one metal zipper
I've dreamt about making a cape for my self for a while, but it always seemed to be an impractical choice for my wardrobe since I bike a lot and I imagine it would pick up wind a flap around like crazy.
Funny thing is, I've had that magazine for two years and back in 2013 the design left me rather cold. I saw the cape again in Burda's Nähkurs 2 and I simply knew I have to make it.
It's called a "cape". To me it looks like the end result of a cape and parka's good time in the big ol' coat pile, if you know what I mean...
I decided to line it with flannel for some extra warmth, which also made it a lot easier to sew the drawstring channel on the body.
I left out the visor since that was simply too funny for me. The hood is rather big, so I decided to add a string channel to keep the hood on with windy weather.
