Trousers zipper fly tutorial

The zipper fly-front is a traditional zipper application for men’s trousers. Nowadays, most of women’s pants have the same kind of front closure. The only difference really is in the plackets lap direction: in women’s clothes it laps right over left (as shown in this tutorial); and in men’s wear it laps left over right. And even that doesn't seem to be a set rule anymore, since most RTW companies do zipper flys on women's pants where left laps over right. Same goes for jeans. 

PS This is no “entry level” self-fly tutorial.

Denim culottes

I remember, my mom had a pair of chocolate brown culottes with pleats at the front when she was younger. She looked very Cannes chic wearing them with cork wedge heels. She also had a perm, which wasn't all that cool, LOL.

What: culottes

Pattern used: Burda Style magazine 12/2011

Materials used: dark light weight denim with 1% stretch, black cotton shirting for pocket bags, four part hook and eye for trousers.

Changes made to the pattern: extra length added at bottom

Sorry for the crappy image quality. I got a new camera and I have no idea still how to take good pictures with it.

Few weeks ago inevitable happened - my boyfriends favourite shorts almost fell apart by the seams. As a good girlfriend, I rushed in to fix what I could. Sadly the only fix I could think of was to make new shorts. Yes people, there literally was nothing to be saved. The fabric was worn so thin, I would have never been able to make a new stitch.

So I cut his old shorts apart to get the pattern and made him new ones. I even used buttons from his old shorts!
